"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." ~ Nelson Mandela
Teaching is my passion. I love watching young minds explore new ideas. From the time I was very small I wanted to be a teacher. I used to line up my stuffed animals and teach them. I have now been teaching for 25 years, and I still enjoy it.
Being able to teach in our Adventist schools has been one of my greatest joys. I enjoy sharing my love for Jesus and what He has done in my life. I believe it is a privilege to be able to work where I can share my faith openly with my students.
I have taught in Dunlap for the past year and I love the country atmosphere and the wonderful students I teach. I taught in smaller schools as the head teacher for 23 years and then taught 4th grade at A.W. Spalding in Collegedale, TN for 4 years. These environments have made me the teacher I am today.
I use teaching methods that inspire students to want to learn more. My theme is "Dream Big." I apply this theme to the subjects I teach in order to inspire my students to reach higher for their dreams and to strive to do their best. I am a very hands-on teacher. In my classroom you will often find science experiments, read alouds, mind maps, media, simulations, special worships, hands-on activities and much more. I feel students retain so much more when they can experience the learning. I am always looking for fresh new ways to present content.
I try to look at each situation with a positive attitude. I do my best to work well with others and to be a team player. I give my best to my job and ask for God's wisdom as I work with His children.
Education, pp. 17, 18—“It is the work of true education . . . to train the youth to be thinkers, and not mere reflectors of other men’s thought." ~ Ellen G. White
About Me
I was raised in an Adventist family. My mother was a homemaker and my father was a pastor. I grew up with morning and evening worship, which is something my husband and I have continued in our own family, even now after the children are gone. I love teaching and being involved in church work. Jesus is very real to me, and I want to share Him with others.
My hobbies are camping, backpacking, hiking, reading, photography, and cooking. I love the outdoors and enjoy the beautiful nature around me.
